So here you are: with the blank canvas of an empty room before you. The place to start is with a few measurements. Proportions are everything in a space, it’s vital that you can move through it easily and that there is sufficient space for your furniture to function as it should.
USE NEWSPAPER TEMPLATES
Make 2D templates of your chosen furniture by taping together some sheets of newspaper. Lay them on the floor and move them around – consider how they work together. If you are left with a lot of empty floor then you might need to scale things up, if there’s barely any floor left then you might want to reconsider sizes or leave something out.
ENSURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH FREE SPACE
As a general rule allow at least 50cm space from one piece of furniture to the next (the exception being side tables which usually sit right next to the bed, sofa or chair).
When placing chairs around a dining table make sure that you have at least 50cm space between the back of the chair and any walls, this will give you enough space to move the chair back and get up.
When placing furniture in a hall or passageway ensure that you have at least 80cm free space left to allow easy movement through it. Any less will feel cramped and uncomfortable.
DON’T FORGET CEILING HEIGHTS
Keep an eye on ceiling height. You should ideally have at least 20-30cm of free space above any tall piece of furniture – this will ensure a feeling of space in a room. If you have cornices measure to the bottom of the cornice to establish your ceiling height (otherwise taller pieces such as bookcases might not sit flush against the wall). Be wary of sloping ceilings – always measure to the lowest point.
THE OPTIMAL DISTANCE BETWEEN YOUR SOFA AND TV
To figure out the optimal distance between your sofa and your television, measure the diagonal of your television screen. Your sofa should be between 1.5 and 3 times this distance away. For example, if you have a 40” screen, your sofa should be between 5’ and 7’ away.
MEASURE WINDOW HEIGHTS
Think about sitting a desk under a window with an inspiring view. Be sure to measure the drop from the bottom of the window to the floor to check that the proposed desk will fit.
MEASURE YOUR DOORWAY
Very important, be sure to check the dimensions of your doorways so you can be sure that your proposed furniture will fit through.
MEASURE YOUR STAIRS
Finally, for heavy and larger products that are going up stairs (both apartments and houses), make sure you have carefully measured to make sure that the products will fit, pay particular attention to tight turns and returns on the stairs.

Returning damaged goods:
We’re happy to replace any damaged goods you might have received – all we ask is that you follow the returns process above to ensure a quick and easy replacement. Once we have received the original damaged items at the warehouse, we will despatch your replacement goods as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, we’re not able to give refunds for the following items:
Unwanted items returned after 28 days.
Items without a completed returns form.
Damaged items not notified by telephone to us within 7 days.
All bespoke items including made-to-measure curtains and blinds.
Any orders of fabric by the metre.

We ask that you return products to us unused, in their original packaging with any tamper seals intact.
Any returned goods must reach us within 14 days of delivery.

Receipt of Order Confirmation
You will receive an order receipt confirmation email as soon as you have placed an order. Please keep it in a safe place as we may ask you for information from it in any correspondence. If you do not receive this email please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, so that we may investigate and confirm that your order has been placed successfully.
Prices include VAT at the rate of 23% (which may change from time to time in accordance with Revenue legislation) and exclude delivery charges unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to alter prices at any time without notice. It may be necessary to change prices either up or down, from time to time, including any alterations to the rate of VAT.
Reproduction (Catalogue, web, brochures etc.)
Hedgeroe takes the utmost care to ensure that product information and colours are accurate. Due to the limitations of the photographic process, goods may not be exactly the same colour as shown.
We do our very best to ensure that all items you see are as close as possible to the photographs shown, but, since they are not mass-produced, and many of them are either handmade from natural materials or hand-finished, slight variations in colour and size may occur from time to time. We hope that you understand this and appreciate the skill and craftsmanship required to make such high-quality products. All products shown are subject to availability.
Subject to availability of service, accessibility to property, local customs costs/regulations, transport mode and shipment size. Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver OKA orders to Russia.
We hope you will love your Hedgeroe purchase, but if you find it unsuitable or you’re not entirely satisfied, please notify us within 7 days by telephone of your intention to return the product(s). We ask that you return products to us unused, in their original packaging with any tamper seals intact. You will be entitled to a refund or replacement if returned products (with a completed returns form) reach us within 28 days. Please ensure that returns are packed and labelled carefully so that they are not lost or damaged in transit.
Heavy goods items can be taken away at the point of delivery free of charge, but if you subsequently decide to return the products, it may take up to 28 days for collection (40 days for more remote areas) and a charge of £50 will be made. Non-heavy goods can also be returned to any of our shops – however you will be required to provide a completed returns form before a refund or exchange is given. Please note that heavy goods cannot be returned to the shops. Please call our customer services department on 2948932 to arrange returns of heavy goods. Refunds will only be given provided we receive a completed returns form
Replacements for exchange of damaged goods will not be dispatched until the original item has been received at our warehouse
Hedgeroe do not give refunds on the following items:

• Curtains that have been gathered, cut or altered.
• Bespoke curtains.

Hedgeroe cannot accept any liability for a failure to comply with instructions specifically stated on the Website or in the catalogue. When you place an order to purchase a product from Hedgeroe Direct your order represents an offer to us to purchase a product which is accepted by us by way of a dispatch note included when you receive your order. Any products on the same order which we have not confirmed as accepted in such dispatch note do not form part of the contract.

If the goods do not on receipt by you substantially meet the description on this website, you are entitled to reject the goods and return them to us.
Competition Terms and Conditions
1. Hedgeroe competitions are open to residents of the Republic of Ireland aged 18 years or over, except employees of Hedgeroe and their families.
2. It is a condition of entry that you must provide us with a valid email address, and this will be added to our email marketing database which can be unsubscribed from at any time. Any other conditions required will be stipulated upon entry.
3. Entry is restricted to one per person.
4. The closing date for entries will be the end of each month unless indicated.
5. There is no purchase necessary to enter and no cash alternative will be offered.
6. If the prize is a Hedgeroe product, Hedgeroe reserves the right to change the prize for an alternative Hedgeroe product of an equivalent value.
7. By entering our competitions, the winner agrees to their name being shared on our social media channels.
8. Hedgeroe reserves the right to re-draw the winner if the original winner cannot be contacted within 28 days of the competition closing date.
9. Hedgeroe’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
All Hedgeroe online purchases take place in a safe environment using the latest security technology to protect our customers.

Information we hold
If you have shopped with us we will hold your name, address, telephone number and email address. Credit card details are never held by Hedgeroe, credit card details are only held by our payment provider; this is so secure we can’t even see them! We will also hold the delivery address for your orders and the password information associated with your account. We also maintain a record of your product selections.
If you have requested a catalogue, entered a competition or completed feedback, we hold your name, address, telephone number, email address.
Information we use
We use the information we hold on your records for operational purposes, for example processing your order, dealing with queries, tracking deliveries, reviewing past purchases.
Your order history enables us to tailor our product range and marketing information (e.g. promotions and special offers) to your requirements.
Any successor to Hedgeroe may use your information on the same basis.
We also use the information to keep you up to date with Hedgeroe mailing new catalogues and sending emails as appropriate.
We occasionally make our postal mailing list available to carefully selected companies. If you do not want your information to be made available, please tick the relevant box when requesting your catalogue or signing up for email newsletters.
For purposes of quality control and training, calls and emails may be monitored from time to time.
